Description
Tretiva-20 is a skin care medicine containing the active substance Isotretinoin, for sale in our store by Intas Pharmaceuticals. Isotretinoin is indicated for the treatment of severe forms of acne (nodular or conglobate acne, or acne at risk of permanent scarring), and acne that has not responded to standard therapies. It is used by bodybuilders to reduce the signs of steroid acne, a common side effect of steroid use.
Efficacy of isotretinoin
Isotretinoin induces apoptosis (cell death) in sebocytes (sebum-producing cells), leading to decreased sebum production. The reduction in sebum production prevents the clogging of pores and the growth of acne-causing bacteria. Isotretinoin does not directly kill bacteria, but it reduces the size of the sebaceous ducts and makes the microenvironment less hospitable to acne-causing bacteria.
Isotretinoin also reduces comedone formation by decreasing hyperkeratinization through an unknown mechanism. It can also boost immune functions to reduce inflammation.
In most people, acne clears up completely after just one course of treatment.
How to take Isotretinoin tablets?
Isotretinoin treatment should be started at a dose of 0.5 mg per kg of body weight per day. In most patients, the dose ranges from 0.5 mg to 1 mg per kg per day. Patients with very severe forms of the disease or acne on the torso may require higher daily doses, up to 2mg per kg. It is taken orally, with meals, once or twice a day.
Complete remission of acne is usually achieved within 16-24 weeks of treatment.
