Description
Femara is the trade name of a substance called letrozole, produced by the company Dragon Pharma. Letrozole is an antiestrogenic medicine that belongs to the group of aromatase inhibitors (AI). The medicine was originally created as a treatment for breast cancer in women, but is also used by men to control their estrogen levels. Letrozole has a long duration of action, about 42 hours on average. It is the most powerful AI used in bodybuilding, but is the second most popular after Arimidex (Anastrozole).
Letrozole Effects
When men take anabolic steroids that are prone to the aromatization process, they initially increase their testosterone levels, but the aromatase enzyme will begin to convert testosterone to estrogen. When estrogen levels become too high in the male body, undesirable side effects occur. The use of Letrozole will help block the action of aromatase, reducing estrogen production to a normal level and thus avoiding side effects such as gynecomastia or fluid retention.
Recommendations for taking Letrozole pills
The general dose range for letrozole is approximately 1.25 mg to 2.5 mg per day. Everyone should start with a low dose of 1.25mg (half a tablet) and slowly adjust your dose based on how you feel your body is responding. Even 1.25mg a day is too much for many anabolic steroid users. In this case, the recommended dose is 1.25 mg every other day or even every three days, since the half-life of letrozole is 2 to 4 days.
