Megamentin 625 by Intas Pharmaceuticals is a combination of two medicines used to treat infections caused by bacteria. The two substances inside this medication are amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium. Bacterial infections of the ear, sinuses, throat, lungs, urinary tract, skin, teeth, joints, and bones can be treated with the use of this medication. One of the main uses is to treat skin conditions such as acne, which is caused by bacteria on the skin.
Effectiveness of amoxicillin and potassium
The two substances within the drug perform different functions in ensuring that infection-causing bacteria are destroyed and do not become resistant to the drug. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic that monitors the growth arrest of bacteria by preventing the formation of a protective bacterial coat that bacteria need to survive. Clavulanate potassium is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that can improve the effectiveness of amoxicillin and reduce the chance of bacteria becoming resistant.
Correct use of amoxicillin
The normal dose of the drug to treat infections such as acne is 625 to 1,250 mg (1 to 2 tablets) per day. If multiple tablets are taken in one day, the doses should be taken evenly spaced. Continue taking the medication daily until a few days after symptoms have completely disappeared. This ensures that all bacteria have been destroyed.
